Rankings Page Update

The rankings have been updated for June.  The new format should be a lot easier to read.  Notable updates are:

  • Amanat Ruenroeng drops in rank due to his loss to John Casimero.
  • The Cruiserweight division gets a big shake-up after the numerous bouts over the last few weeks.
  • The Super Welterweight division starts to settle out, with Lara and the Charlo brothers taking the top-3 spots.

       The main event on the Throne Boxing card last night didn’t go quite as planned.  In a controversial decision, Washington D.C.’s Dusty Hernandez-Harrison battled Mike Dallas Jr. to a draw. My personal score sheet had Dallas Jr. as the winner 96-92, but the judges saw the fight differently. Both fighters had their moments during the contest, which turned out to be an entertaining bout. I would gladly watch a rematch, as there is definitely unfinished business. Read more

Weighing In: Tyler “Hercules” Howard

Boxing is viewed by many as a lonely sport. Fighters wake in the early hours to run alone, they make there way to the gym to train on their own, and they of course enter the ring for a one on one contest of skill and will. For 21 year old prospect Tyler “Hercules” Howard (Nathan Howard on boxrec) though, boxing is a family affair. His father and trainer, Eric Howard, is a former fighter himself as well as his brother Chris. I recently had the privilege of having a short Q&A with Howard.

Live Boxing at the Bulldog Brawl (June 4 2016)

       Virginia and Maryland area boxing fans will have a chance to see live boxing on Saturday June 4, 2016.  The card, deemed the “Bulldog Brawl,” is being presented by Jeter Promotions and features many up and coming D/M/V area boxers. The venue is the ABC Sports Complex, located at 6728 Commercial Drive Springfield, Virginia 22151. Tickets are $50 for general admission and $75 for V.I.P. access, featuring closer seating. Doors open at 6:30PM and the first bell rings around 8:00PM, food and drinks will be for sale at the venue. Read more
